THIS WEEK'S SCORECARD

BCCC WINS 0

OPPOSITION WINS 4

Oh dear! - The season's low point - hopefully!

Saturday 1st XI

Lost at home to Dartford by 8 wickets. Remain 7th in the table, just 9 points above the relegation zone. Remaining matches are away to Ashford and Catford & Cyphers and home to Harvel. However, on paper both Downham & Bellingham and Chestfield have tougher run-ins. It looks like this one's going down to the final game of the season.

Highlights - Put on a respectable 193-8 off 50 overs, Robbie Williams top scoring with 51, including 9 fours. Julian Roach also recorded his highest score this season for the 1st XI with 42. In reply, oppo batsman Gaurav Chabra, who also plays for Delhi, scored an unbeaten 114.

Saturday 2nd XI

Lost away to Canterbury by 5 wickets. Remain in 4th place in the table but now 26 points adrift of the promotion places. Realistically now only 3 wins will be sufficient for promotion. Remaining matches are home to Ashford and HSBC and away to Orpington.

Highlights - Skipper Dave Luxford top scored with 33. Derek Bloomfield took his season's haul to 32 wickets with 3-42 off 16 overs.

Saturday 3rd XI

Lost away to Gravesend by 11 runs. Finish the season 4th in the table.

Highlights - The 3's won't be sorry that this may be the final game they play at the Ex-Blues ground, all being well. Another typically low scoring match with 20 wickets going down for 239 runs in only 68 overs. Reduced the oppo to 125 all out with James Todd taking 4-33 off 13.4 overs (completing his most successful season for the 3's with the ball). In reply the 3's finished just 11 runs short of victory, Steve Viola top scoring with 39.

Saturday 4th XI

Lost away to Streatham & Marlborough by 8 wickets in the 4's last game of the season. Remain 7th in the table but maximum points for Belhus in their last game of the season could see the 4's finish bottom.

Highlights - BCCC were put into bat and all began well with Walks, spurred on by the prospect of S&M, top scoring with 60. Opening partner Tony McCann scored 45, completing a successful season for the 4's finishing amongst the top 10 batting averages in the League. However, with a weakened side due to 37 absent players, the innings collapsed to 151 all out in the last over and on a ground where the side batting first hasn't won all season, the oppo polished off the runs with relative ease.

Sunday Friendly XI - no match

U14 Cup

In the final against Blackheath on 7th September at 9.30am, venue Farningham CC.

On Tuesday 9th September, BCCC committee members will be meeting with the ECB Club Programmes Manager, David Leighton, to discuss becoming one of the ECB's showcase clubs for the 2009 Natwest Cricketforce programme. The aim of this incentive is to raise sponsorship from local businesses and voluntary help from club members to turn our new field into a second cricket ground for the club and also begin the extension to our clubhouse. Your help will be needed in due course. Please watch this space.

This year's Fun Day, on Sunday 28th September, will take on an IPL theme. The first 5 teams have been announced and at least 4 more teams are being worked on. If you would like to play on the day then you need to get into a team now! Team selection restrictions have been relaxed so that there no longer has to be a committee member in the team. Also, in exceptional circumstances, a player may be accepted 2 categories below the required level. Please enquire first though by email. Click here for further details.
